A lot of streamers have used their platforms to fundraise for aid, but in order to end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and across historic Palestine, we need to get organised, to fight for a future where Palestinians will not be endlessly reliant on or in need of humanitarian aid.
Streamers can play an important role in building movements, as people with public platforms to get the word out. Use your influencing powers for good!
If you’re a streamer
-
Don’t play any Xbox published games on stream. There are plenty of other games to play on stream! Maybe pick some games made by Palestinian developers, or including Palestinian creatives on their teams - like Rasheed Abueideh, Nadia Shammas, or Ramsey Kharroubi?
-
Don’t take sponsorships from Xbox or Xbox owned studios.
-
Perhaps most importantly as someone with a public platform, actively discuss with your community why you aren’t playing Xbox games or taking Xbox and Xbox studios sponsorships. Use your platform to get others involved, pointing them to our other calls to action for gamers, journalists, developers and workers!
-
If you’re already talking about the Xbox boycott, why not talk about BDS more widely? You can help inform people how to get more involved in the BDS campaign beyond the games industry - for example encouraging people to cancel their Disney+ subscription, stop buying Coca Cola products, or switch from AXA to another insurance provider.
-
Check out the BDS website and follow BDS on social media to keep up to date with boycott and pressure targets, and the reasoning for why these companies are being targeted, so you can share accurate, up to date information with your community and explain why you’re asking them to boycott what they’re boycotting.
